It's been almost a year since I blogged: traveled to Indonesia last summer, a new job, long distance relationship....blah blah blah...all that, yes! So the off season did not fare too well with only a few hundred miles logged between October 2010 and March 2011. Excuse? I got sick twice, early in the year that turned into allergies as the weather warmed up, and got sick again. So the real riding came later this year.
Still planning on attending the Air Force Classic in June......crappy training, but I think I should be fine with it being the first big ride of the year. My new job is taking more of my time than I expected it would, but no worries.......If I attempt to commute with the bike as much as possible, that would give me a 20 mile commute daily.
Right now, I'm bummin' missing BikeDC because I have to go to Puerto Rico for work......yes PR.....
Before that my brother and his wife will be visiting for a week or so.....the 26 years I've lived here, he's never visited, so it will be quite an event!
Also......to keep my bike building skills sharp, I've decided to convert my Bianchi to all campy......yes...an all Italian Bike, like I originally planned.........should've stuck with that plan right from the get go. But I love doing this, anyway.
So What's new? I've noticed that in the off season, with a proper diet, my weight gained only 5lbs. Previous years it was teetering on almost 10-15lbs of weight gained. I plateaued at 185, just five of my avg last year. Perhaps I can get it down to 170-175 so come winter it will only go up to 175-180lbs. I'm also becoming more efficient with how I'm burning calories while riding. It used to average about 100cal/hr, recently right around 80-85.
Target? hills, hills , hills.............I just have to get over it. I would love to keep climbing Old Angler's Hill......my feared hill. I also keep avoiding the Custis trail starting from Key Bridge, as it is a constant uphill with a stupid steep hill right around Glebe road. Keep pluggin'..........have to.
So what about the single speed and the Dolomite look alike? Shelved for now....need to pay debt down,
I want to ride a minimum of 100-200 rides this year with another 3000 mile goal again.
Also to keep writing so as to not forget not to forget these experiences......
